Description

ALAJUELA is home to some of the most captivating natural beauty in Costa Rica, as well as an incredible variety of man-made attractions.

It’s also the second largest province in Costa Rica, so there’s plenty of room for you to explore!

If you’re looking for something a little more adventurous and want to get off the beaten path, consider traveling through Alajuela’s Cordillera Central range. This is one of Costa Rica’s most pristine mountain ranges and it offers breathtaking views that you wouldn’t see anywhere else in the country.

If you’d rather do some hiking than sightseeing, then check out some of its national parks. There are several volcanoes that make up this park system including Poás Volcano National Park, which boasts a crater lake filled with blue water. It’s also home to Arenal Volcano National Park and La Fortuna Waterfall Gardens which both offer incredible scenery as well as an opportunity for adventure seekers to get their fix!

If you’re looking for something more cultural then Alajuela City itself may be just what you need. It’s located just outside San Jose and sits on a gentle slope so it will be slightly warmer than its neighbor city, San Jose.
